BAE Systems has secured a US$79.8 million contract to support the US Navy and regional allies, with work contracted for BAE Systems operations in Western Australia.

The US$79.8 million ($110.9 million) program supports the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific in maintaining and operating multiple electronic, communication and computing platforms.

This contract will enable BAE Systems to continue providing 24/7 operations and maintenance support for afloat and ashore command, control, communications, computer and intelligence systems.

Through this contract, BAE Systems engineers will also continue servicing the US Navy’s Mobile User Objective System (MUOS), a narrowband military communications satellite system that offers enhanced and secure communications, including voice, video, and data for all branches of the US Department of Defense and other federal agencies.

In order to support the global SATCOM system, the MUOS system requires a number of different ground stations based around the world, at major ground stations at Naval Air Station Sigonella, Sicily; Naval SATCOM Facility Northwest Chesapeake, US; Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Pacific, Hawaii, US; and the Australian Defence Satellite Communications Station, Geraldton, Western Australia.

Mark Keeler, vice president and general manager of BAE Systems’ integrated defence solutions business, said, "We are maintaining ship-to-shore, shore-to-aircraft, and shore-to-shore long-range communications systems."

A majority of the contract work will take place in Oahu, Hawaii, with additional work performed in Geraldton, Western Australia.

"Our work is enabling naval, joint, agency and coalition forces to effectively communicate and operate across the Pacific and Indian Oceans," Keeler added.

BAE Systems delivers a broad range of solutions and services enabling militaries and governments to successfully carry out their respective missions. The company provides large-scale systems engineering, integration and sustainment services across air, land, sea, space and cyber domains.
