DroneShield wins European contract

The Sydney-based company has been selected to deliver its detect-and-defeat systems to a European customer.

The Sydney-based company has been selected to deliver its detect-and-defeat systems to a European customer.

DroneShield Limited has announced its receipt of a $2 million order for multiple DroneSentry fixed site detect-and-defeat systems from an undisclosed European government.

The deal, which represents the largest DroneShield contract from a European customer, is expected to commence in the September 2022 quarter with the first payment.

DroneSentry includes SaaS subscriptions to DroneShield’s artificial intelligence software engines — RFAITM (radiofrequency sensor AI), DroneOptIDTM (optical computer vision AI) and DroneSentry-C2TM command-and-control sensor fusion engine.

The capability is designed to correlate situational data, providing increased situational awareness for automatic identification and response to UxS intrusions or threats.

DroneSentry can be deployed in permanent or temporary installations, operating both as a single system deployment or with multiple systems deployed on site.

“This order continues our progression from developing the tech, to smaller sales, to repeat smaller size, to presently realising larger contracts,” Oleg Vornik, DroneShield’s CEO, said.

“There is a substantial near-term sales pipeline in place, and we are pleased to start converting it into contracts.

“This contract reinforces our position that to be a global leader in the rapidly growing counter-drone sector, a full suite of products is critical, including handheld, vehicle and fixed site offering, as we are seeing sales with separate customer sets for each of those complementary products.”

The award of this latest contract comes just after the ASX-listed firm confirmed that it has sold and deployed the company’s DroneSentry counter drone capability at an undisclosed US international airport for the first time.

The company hopes that the deployment of the system will prove a gateway into the US civilian aviation market.
